Gunsmoke Season 4 Vol. 2 opens with Matt Dillon (James Arness) in charge of Dodge City, a town in the Wild West where people often have no respect for the law. He deals on a daily basis with the problems associated with frontier life: cattle rustling, gunfights, brawls and land fraud. Such situations call for sound judgment and brave actions, of which Marshal Dillon has plenty. He needs all of these in Gunsmoke Season 4, episode 1, Matt for Murder, when he's suspended by the War Department after he's accused of shooting an unarmed man in cold blood. And, once again, in episode 11, How to Kill a Friend, Matt finds that two gamblers have hired gunman and old friend Togue Morlar to gun Matt down. It doesn't help that Morlar harbors a bitter grudge against lawmen. There's also a bit of humor when, in episode 18, Marshall Proudfoot, Chester's Uncle Wesley comes to town, thinking that Chester is the marshal, and Matt plays along as Chester's deputy. These episodes, along with all the others in Season 4, can be found on Gunsmoke DVDs.
Buy Gunsmoke Season 4 for one of the best Westerns as lawman Matt Dillon joins with townsmen and women to keep law and order in rowdy Dodge City.
