The sixth season of The Next Generation’s seven-year run builds on the success of Season 5 -- a favorite of many Trekkies -- with imaginative plot and character developments. Once again there are several noteworthy guest appearances, including physicist Stephen Hawking as a poker-shark Holodeck version of himself, and Trek veteran James Doohan as Scotty, who is beamed up from a time-trap. There are also more episodes directed by cast member, such as Jonathan Frakes’s "The Chase," memorable to fans for its genetically plausible answer to the humanoid appearance of most of the show's species.
